Aam Panna

Summers are incomplete without mangoes in India, whether ripened or unripened . With this scorching heat approaching, I am back with this "Beat the Heat" drink, Aam Panna. It's a very popular summer drink in India, known for it's heat resistant properties. Let me take you through the detailed recipe. Do try and let me know in the comments how you like it.

Ingredients

Raw Mango 2-3 medium size
Sugar 2 tbsp or as per taste
Roasted cumin powder
Chaat Masala 1/2 tsp or as needed to enhance the taste
Black Salt 1 tsp
Water 2 cups

Serving size 3

Preparation

  1. Wash and boil mangoes for about 10 min in pressure cooker. Time varies if you choose to boil in sauce pan.
  2. Peel the mangoes, take out pulp and mash them well, strain and keep aside.
  3. Add water and mis well. You can increase or decrease the quantity of water depending on the fluid consistency you like. I prefer it of thin consistency.
  4. Add sugar, cumin powder, black salt and chaat masala. Mix until sugar is well dissolved.
  5. You can add freshly chopped mint leaves or mint leaves paste for freshness.
  6. Chill and serve.
