Mutton Masala/ Goat Masala


Goat masala is curry based dish made with goat meat, usually referred as mutton masala in India. Let me take you through a detailed recipe of my version of goat masala/ mutton masala. I hope you like the recipe, do try it and share your experiences in the comments.

Ingredients

For Marination

Goat Meat 1 lbs
Red chili powder 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Yogurt1/2 cup
Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp
Oil 1 tsp


For masala

Chopped Onion 2
Tomato and green chili puree 1 cup (green chili as per taste)
Oil 4 tbsp
Bay leave 2
Cloves 3-4
Black pepper 4-5
Black cardamom 2
Coriander powder 2 tbsp
Meat Masala 4 tsp
Serving size 4


Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix together all marination ingredients and let it marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add bay leaves, cloves, black pepper and black cardamom.
  3. Add chopped onions and stir cook till golden brown.
  4. Add the marinated goat meat and cover cook for 10 min. Add tomato and green chili paste and mix well.
  5. Add coriander powder and meat masala and cook until oil separates. Add a little water and close the pressure cooker lid and let it cook for another 10 min.

  6. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
